Miss Leila Parrish, 68, member of a pioneer family and a native of Grayson county, died at her home in Kentuckytown, 3 miles west of Whitewright, Monday morning at 1:45 o'clock, following an illness of several weeks.  She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. M. Parrish, who came to Texas from Tennessee before the War between the States.  For a number of years, she taught in the public schools of Grayson County, and at one time was a member of the Whitewright public school faculty.  She was an active and loyal member of the Church of Christ, active in the service of the sanctuary as long as she was physically able - a member who could be counted on, in attendance, in worship and in service.  Never by word or deed did she offend anyone, but she was a friend to all, especially to those in trouble or distress.
The funeral service was held this Thursday afternoon at the late residence, conducted by Elder F.L. Young, of Dallas, formerly pastor of the Church of Christ here, assisted by Elder C.C. Merritt, pastor.  Burial was at Vittitoe Cemetery, where her parents and other kindred sleep.
The deceased is survived by a brother, J.M. Parrish; and a sister, Mrs. H.R. Eatherly.  Guy Hamilton of Whitewright is a nephew.  The late T.N. Parrish, who was a merchant at Kentuckytown for more than 40 years, was a brother of the deceased.
