Thursday, October 13, 1949 pg. 5 Funeral services for Jesse Hampton Lumpkin [sic ], 71, were held Saturday afternoon at the Church of Christ, conducted by Therman Healy, minister of the Church of Christ. Interment was at Vittitoe Cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart. Mr. Lumpkin died at the home of a son, whom he was visiting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. He suffered a light stroke about 10 days before his death. His death was the result of a heart attack. He resided in southwest Whitewright, where he had made his home for several years. He was born in South Carolina, January 28, 1878, and came to Texas in 1897 and settled in Grayson County. He was married at Whitewright in 1904 to Beulah Lankford. Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, H.L. Lumpkin and F.J. Lumpkin, both of Dallas, and O.R. Lumpkin of Whitewright; one brother, Simon Lumpkin of South Carolina; and 9 grandchildren.
