 Billie Jean Martin 26 July 1938 - 19 February 2009 The Herald Democrat February 22 - 23, 2009 DENISON - Funeral services for Billie J. Martin, 70, of Denison will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, in Truth Tabernacle. The Rev. David Gilbert and the Rev. Clay Strawn will officiate. Burial will be in Vittitoe Cemetery, and arrangements are under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. She died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Texoma Medical Center. Mrs. Martin was born July 26, 1938, in Sherman, the daughter of Maley and Lorene Gardner Haws. She attended Denison High School and Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. She married Karl Chapman on Sept. 9, 1955, in Dallas. Mr. Chapman died Sept. 20, 1969. She married Gene Martin on March 20, 1970, in Sherman, and he died Jan. 15, 1992. Mr. Martin was a childcare provider and was a member of Truth Tabernacle. Surviving are her son, David Chapman and wife Marcey of Hillsboro; sisters, Jo Manning of Denison and Shirley McClaine and husband Joe of Fate; grandchildren, Kyle Chapman, Zachary Chapman and Hannah Chapman; and daughter-in-law, Helene Chapman of Denison. She was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Chapman, who died Sept. 10, 1996. Pallbearers will be Phillip Manning, Tom Manning, Jeff Manning, Mike West, Darren Gilbert and Chance Wimberly. The family will be at the funeral home from 4 -5 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to 4 Paws For Ability, 253 Dayton, Ave., Xenia OH 45385.
