  Opal Kennedy Stephens 22 July 1912 - 12 June 2009 Clarence Stephens 18 August 1911 - 24 February 1987 wed 3 September 1932  The Herald Democrat June 14, 2009 OPAL EUNICE STEPHENS July 22, 1912 - June 12, 2009 Mrs. Opal Stephens who was born in the Locust Community near Pottsboro, Texas died Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Sherman Healthcare center. Her services will be held Monday, June 15, 2009 at Johnson-Moore Chapel in Denison, Texas. Burial will follow at the Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Family will have visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and grandsons will be pallbearers. Opal was born July 22, 1912 to the parents of Melvin & Mammie Morton Kennedy. At the age of nine her mother died and she was raised by her step-mother Vinnie Kennedy. She married Clarence Stephens on September 3, 1932 in Madill, Oklahoma. He died in 1987. Opal retired after 20 years with the Borger School system where she was a cafeteria manager. She had lived in Borger from 1944-1995 and was a member of the Keeler Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephens is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bob & Juanita Stephens of Pottsboro; daughter and son-in-law Peggy & Glenn Hagle of Pottsboro; sister-in-law Vera Kennedy of Denison, Texas. Her grandchildren are Bart Boren and wife Suzy of Borger, Texas; Steve Hagle and wife Deanne of Pflugerville, Texas; Debbie Lee and Husband Todd of Lewisville, Texas; and Deana Wright and hustband Stuart of Sherman, Texas. There are 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brother Bill Kennedy; sisters Ozelle Jacobs and Modean Kennedy.
