Denison - Mrs. Helen Louise Shone, 54, long time member of the Girls Rodeo Association, trick rider and barrel racing contestant, died Monday at 2 p.m. at her home in Colbert after a lengthy illness.
A graveside service at the Georgetown Cemetery was held Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with L.D. Lamb officiating.  Johnson-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Shone was born November 15, 1922 [sic] in Pottsobor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.E. Scott.  She attended schools in Pottsboro and Denison and was married April 15, 1947, at Sherman to Ray Shone, Jr.
She raised and trained horses and was active in promoting all girl rodeos for many years.
Survivors include her husband of Colbert.
Pallbearers were six of Mrs. Shone's associates in the rodeo profession, Kathleen Davis, Teddy Jacobs, Diana DeLashaw, Kay Shires, Sharon Atchley and Dorothy Snow.
