Allen 1882 - 1956 The Denison Press Friday, May 4, 1956 Pg. 5 Funeral services were held at Georgetown Baptist Church Friday afternoon, April 27, for A.S. Allen, 73, pionner resident of the Pottsboro community who died at Sherman Community hospital Thursday morning after an extended illness. Services were conducted by Rev. Hugh Davis and the Rev. Preston Bryan and burial was in Georgetown cemetery with Bratcher-Moore in charge. Mr. Allen was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama July 17, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Allen. He was educated in Sherman and Georgetown and was married December 22, 1913 to Minnie Farrell. He was a storekeeper and auctioneer and a former tax collector. He was a member of Georgetown Baptist church. Survivors are his wife; one son, James Allen, Denison; two daughters, Mrs. Jack King, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Mrs. Champ Lee, Dallas; two brothers, S.G. Allen and J.S. Allen, both of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Eula Hull, Denison, and Mrs. Albert Burgess, Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.
