Harry Roger Phillips passed away at his home Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 705 Airport Freeway, Hurst. A graveside service and interment will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday in Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Funeral arrangements by Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodward, Denison, 903-465-2323.
Roger was born Aug. 2, 1937, to Thelma and Harry Phillips in Harriman, Tenn. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1958 and pursued a career in marketing and advertising, holding various management positions at different retailers, such as J.C. Penney, Montgomery Wards and JoAnn's. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity while attending his beloved UT. He was an active member of the Texas Exes Alumni Association and really loved the Longhorns. Since retirement, Roger and his wife had enjoyed fishing, traveling, bicycling and Longhorns football. Roger was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors: His wife of 36 years, Mary Anne Phillips; children, Scott and Alicia Phillips, Ron and Kelly Brown, Ren Brown, Kim Phillips, Mike and Elizabeth Hoard; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and eight nieces.
