Samuel Edward Yates, Jr. passed away on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008 at Medical City in Dallas. Sam has fought a great battle with cancer and finally won. Eddie came into this world on the evening of June 16, 1976 in Sherman. He was the son of his namesake Samuel Yates Sr. and his mother, Judith Allen, both of Denison.
Eddie grew up in Pottsboro until his high school years when he lived in Arlington where he graduated from Kennedale High School in 1995. He was always a hard worker whether it was doing construction work with his favorite Uncle, Joel Allen, or being on the road, he was always working. Later in life Eddie, with traveling in his blood, set off on the road again and became a long haul driver for J.B. Hunt Inc. He worked for five years, even being named driver of the year in 2007, until his battle with cancer began.
Eddie has not accumulated much of what the world considers of value, but of those things which can't be bought, such as integrity and friendship he has gained great wealth.
Eddie was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James Allen and T. J. Berry of Denison, Reverend Frank Yates and wife Dorothy of Dallas.
