POTTSBORO - Billy Joe "B. J." McGuire, age 80, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Bonham VA. He yearned to be reunited with his wife that he had missed so much after her death in August. Now they are together for eternity.
Mr. McGuire was born March 22, 1931 in Petersburg, Texas, the son of Lawrence and Gladys (Shelton) McGuire. B.J. married the love of his life, Dorthy Faye Daniels July 9, 1952 in Durant, Oklahoma. B.J. served his country proudly in the U. S. Army. B.J. was a Purple Heart Combat Veteran and earned a bronze star. He later established B.J. McGuire Construction in 1963 and was a home builder and general contractor until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and restoring old cars. B.J. loved the Lord and was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. McGuire is survived by his loving family, daughters, Belinda Brownlee and husband, Lonnie of Pottsboro, TX; Janet Lannom and husband, David of Queen City, TX; and Joe Ella Hulsey and husband, Dennis of Pottsboro, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Badgett and husband, Justin of Pottsboro, TX; Jennifer Moudy and husband, Kent of Danville, CA; Billy Joe Hulsey and wife, Jamie of Pottsboro, TX; Jaime Woods and husband, Cody of Sherman, TX; Whitney Hulsey of Pottsboro, TX and fianc, Marcus Davis of Sherman, TX; Chris Lannom and wife, Kara of Redwater, TX; Matthew Lannom and wife, Jessica of Atlanta, TX; and great-grandchildren, Brady, Madelyn, Levi and Colt; brother, Everett McGuire and wife, Linda of Durant, OK and sister, Sue Garner and husband, Dudley of Melbourne, FL. B.J. was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 58 years, Dorthy McGuire, sisters, Dorothy and Barbara and son-in-law, Dennis Looney.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011 at Georgetown Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Family visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Fisher Funeral Home. The funeral home will open at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2011.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in Denison.

POTTSBORO - Dorthy Faye McGuire, age 76, entered into eternal life with her Lord and Savior Monday, August 23, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center. She couldn't wait to see Jesus.
Mrs. McGuire was born February 6, 1934 in Blue, Okla., the daughter of Charlie and Alice (Rose) Daniels. Dorthy married the love of her life, Billy Joe "B.J." McGuire July 9, 1952 in Durant, Okla. She loved the Lord and was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church.
Dorthy was such a caring person, always willing to help in anyway. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dorthy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. McGuire is survived by her loving family: husband of 58 years, B.J. McGuire of Pottsboro; daughters, Belinda Brownlee and husband, Lonnie of Pottsboro; Janet Lannom and husband, David of Queen City; and Joe Ella Hulsey and husband, Dennis of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Melissa Badgett and husband, Justin of Pottsboro; Jennifer Moudy and husband, Kent of Danville, Calif.; Billy Joe Hulsey and wife, Jamie of Pottsboro; Jamie Woods and husband, Cody of Sherman; Whitney Hulsey of Pottsboro; Chris Lannom and wife, Kara of Redwater; Matthew Lannom and wife, Jessica of Queen City; great-grandchildren, Brady, Madelyn and Colt; sister, Ruth Arney of Amarillo and brother, Lester Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ollie Daniels and Jimmy Daniels, sisters, Nell Vandeventer and Katherine Stephens and son-in-law, Dennis Looney.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro. Pastor Bobby Hancock will be officiating. Interment will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
