POTTSBORO - Emma Pearl was born to Lee and Rita (Lane) Leek on August 21, 1933 in Clarendon, Texas and passed from this life on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Pottsboro, Texas at the age of 79.
Emma Pearl grew up and graduated from Clarendon High School. She married Charles A. Sanders on March 28, 1964 in Durant, Oklahoma and came to Pottsboro in 1970. Emma Pearl loved serving in the church and taught Vacation Bible School several times. Her passion was her family as she was very family oriented. She was the strength and stronghold of the family and loved them unconditionally. Emma Pearl enjoyed crocheting, sewing, going fishing and attending bluegrass music gatherings. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pottsboro.
Emma Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles on June 28, 2007, daughter, Doris Ruth Holland, sister, Wanda Teakell, and brother, Tommy Lee Leek.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Johnson and her husband, Jay of Kaufman, TX, son, Ralph Holland and his wife, Darlene of Pottsboro, TX, grandchildren, Glenn McLemee and wife, Lila; Kristie Cheesman and her husband, Dennis; Tanyalee Wallace and her husband, Chris; Emma Sue Pack and her husband, John; and Sueanne Holland; great grandchildren, Shawna Cheesman, Areal Cheesman, Tiffany Cheesman, Ashley McLemee, Camron McLemee, Brooke McLemee, Devon Wallace, Olivia Pack, Emily Pack, Ayla Holland, and Zainey Arrington; special nieces, Cindy Hill and Susie Rainey and their families; great nieces, Angela Cervantes and Michelle Davitt, and great nephew, Jason Praeger and their families.
Services to celebrate the life of Emma Pearl will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at the First Baptist Church in Pottsboro with Bro. Josh Burton officiating. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, with Bill Towery, Jimmy Gill, Mark Owens, Michael Vincent, David Vincent, and Charles Freeman serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.  The Sanders family wish to express their deepest gratitude to John Bullard and the entire staff at Guardian Hospice and to Parks Pharmacy for the love and compassionate care that was bestowed upon Emma Pearl during the last few months.
