POTTSBORO, Tex. -- A fatal auto accident just west of Pottsboro claimed the life of a teenager Tuesday morning. Shelby Dunn (also known as Shelby Johnson), 16, was on her way to school when, according to witnesses, she pulled out in front of a dump truck attempting to get on FM 996. The dump truck hit the driver’s side door of Dunn’s white Ford Mustang.
Dunn was alone in the vehicle.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
FM 996 was shut down following the accident this morning.
Counselors are currently on hand at Pottsboro High School to help friend and classmates deal with the tragedy.
Pottsobor's school year is scheduled to end next Thursday.

Less Tears...More Years

Our Beginning

The Less Tears...More Years™ Campaign was born out of tragedy when two Pottsboro, Texas high school teens were killed in seperate automobile accidents only 30 days apart. Shelby Johnson lost her life as she was on her way to school on May 15, 2007 and Jordan Onstott was lost on June 15, 2007 as she was the passenger in a car driven by another teen on her way home from a date. Both girls were friends and vibrant personalities with such bright futures. It was then that the Less Tears...More Years™ Campaign was formed and made its committment to Education and Awareness, Road Safety, and Drivers Education Reform.
