Dal H. Crook
6 May 1899 - 3 July 1962

Sarah A. Crook
4 April 1905 - 31 May 1983

Sarah Crook was born in Gainsboro, Tennessee but lived in Flinn's Lick.  She was the daughter of David Franklin and Martha Bianca Jones Jones.  She married Dallas Hardin Crook January 27, 1924 in Sherman, Grayson Co., Texas.  She was a great lady with a mischieviousness for humor. Dallas and Sarah almost didn't marry.  Dallas had a car that had to be started with a front hand crank.  He was having trouble getting the car started and Sarah thought he was looking at her painted knees.
No matter who came to the h ouse, they were always treated like family.  Sarah usually had a dessert ready or perhaps fried chicken on Sunday, especially if all the kids, in-laws and grandchildren came for Sunday dinner.  Holidays and birthdays were her specialites.  You could always count on a cake with ice cream!  Sarah cooked, sewed quilt squares during the summer for quilting (and late Christmas gifts) during the winter.
When Dallas was alive, it was out in the garden during the summer, then canning to feed the family.  Sarah could be seen sitting on the front porch snapping green peans or shelling English peas.  She was always busy taking care of her family and home. She was probably the hardest working woman even known.
