Staff Sergeant Lutz entered the United States Marine Corps in 1947 where he served during the Korean conflict.
He was born in Portland, Indiana, son of Ole and Mabel Theurer Lutz. He graduated from Portland High School in Portland, Indiana.
While in the Marine Corps he received the Korean Service Medal with Stars, Commendation Medal for Combat, the National Defense Service Ribon and Good Conduct Award. After four years of service, he received an Honorable Discharge and went on to complete his schooling.
He graduated from Purdue University with B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering. On November 6, 1954, he married Betty J. Hollingsworth in Decauter, Indiana.
He was Supertendent of Continental Steel Corp, of Kokomo, Indiana, Plant Manager of Sherman Wire Company, Sherman, Texas and Plant Manager of Adcom Wire, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Upon retirement, Ralp and his wife Betty moved to Pottsboro, Texas.
Mr. Lutz kept his membership for the Masonic Blue Lodge in Portland, Indiana. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rites Bodies of Dallas, Texas. He was also a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church in Pottsboro.
Surviving were his wife of 49 years, Betty J. Lutz of Pottsboro; daughter, Kim Badgett and her husband Scott of Denison, Texas; sister, Judy Votaw of Portland, Indiana; and grandchild Morgan Badget of Denison.
Ralph was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Services were held at the Lakeway Methodist Church, Reveren Sam Caldwell officiating.
Military grave services were held at the cemetery conducted by the Marine Corps League.
