FATAL ACCIDENT - DEATH OF MR. CORCORAN
A fatal accident occurred at Kaufman, on Thursday the 10th, which resulted in the death of Mr. C. Corcoran, foreman of the bridge men of the H. & T.C.R.R.  The men were employed in removing a tank when Mr. Corcoran went up on the frame-work of the wind mill to give some directions when the top which held the wind wheel gave way and the arm flew back knocking Mr. Corcoran off backwards.  He fell a distance of some 31 feet, striking the frozen ground on his back.  He was immediately removed and although the best medical skill was summoned to his assistance from Dallas and elsewhere, his injuries proved fatal.  He lingered in great pain until Sunday evening.  His remains were brought to Denison Monday night for interment, and Tuesday one of the largest funeral ever witnessed in Denison followed his corpse to its silent home.

CORNELIUS CORCORAN
was born in county Cork, Ireland, on March the 17th, 1852, and was a brother to Mr. Mike Corcoran of this city.  In 1869 he bid farewell to his native shore and cast his fortune with the rising republic of America.  In 1873, he entered the service of the H. & T.C. R.R. and for the last 10 years has remained at his post of duty.  His long and uninterrupted connection with the company had placed him in possession of their entire confidence and esteem, while his high moral character, strictly temperate habits and honest, generous thoughts commanded the highest respect of his subordinate, his comrades and friends.  Mr. Corcoran was a young man whose worldly means were about $9,000 at his death, and whose word was considered his bond.  As a man he was of upright, straight forward and honest; as a superior he was firm, generous and impartial, and as a subordinate competent, trustworthy, and faithful.  He will be missed by the company that employed him, remembered by the friends that knew him, and deeply mourned by those that loved him, and if a reward is waiting for any in the future may heaven bestow upon him the crown of happiness and peace to which his noble life in this world justly entitled him.

Miss Julia Corcoran, one of the most lovely and beautiful characters in Denison, died Thursday night of lockjaw.  The young lady stepped upon a nail which penetrated the foot a very short distance, causing only 2 or 3 drops of blood to flow.  She was struck with lockjaw and has suffered untold agony ever since until death came to her relief.  The deceased was raised in Denison and her large circle of friends will be deeply grieved at her untimely death.  She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Corcoran.

The Gazetteer was unable to say but little about Julia Aloisius Corcoran, who passed away last Thursday at the family home on Sears street.  This is one of the saddest deaths that has occurred in Denison in many years.  Miss Corcoran was at the time of her death only 19 years of age.  How touching, tender and appalling is the death of a young girl at this tender age, especially to one who had so much to live for.  The intelligence of this girl's death will awaken tender and tearful regret wherever she was known and leave behind her a memory as fragrant with all the sweet amenities of life as the flowers which were spread over her grave.
Miss Julia was a Denison girl, from the lisping words of babyhood to the beautiful era of perfect womanhood had been passed in Denison; here she lived, here she died, and passed to the other world to receive a crown, and there she will find sweet communion with the countless multitude, who like her have passed away in the heyday of spotless purity and youthful beauty.   The life was closed which the death of Miss Corcoran grows no less beautiful and admirable as we realize that she has gone from us.  What gentle sister in the struggle and turmoil of life will look away from the deathbed of Julia Corcoran and not bless God for being a woman, a woman who was not afraid to die when she knew that the last hope to live was gone.  The sufferings of this poor stricken girl will never be known, for her lips were sealed to tell those loving parents, sisters, brothers and friend the great agony that had laid its ruthless hands upon her.  Julia Aloisius Corcoran was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, Father Hutcheson officiating.  The church service was beautiful and impressive and a large concourse followed the remains to the last resting place.  It is safe to say that no funeral has has occurred in years created a more profound impression.  The dead girl lay in the repose of fragrant flowers.
Miss Corcoran received her earlier education at St. Xavier's Academy.  Later she went to St. Joseph's Academy, Lockport, New York, from which she graduated in June 1906.  For the past several months she was stenographer in the Denison office of Wolfe, Hare & Maxey.
Besides the bereaved parents, there are 3 sisters and 3 brothers who mourn her loss.  They are: Sister Aloysia of the Sisterhood of St. Mary, now stationed at Wichita Falls; Miss Margaret Corcoran and Miss Nellie Corcoran, both of whom live with their parents; John and Michael Corcoran, students at Jesuit College of Fordham University, New York City; and C.J. Corcoran, now residing at Wonder, Nevada.  Besides these other relatives are Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hanna, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Collins and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Green, to whom she was a niece; Mrs. Kate Conner, an aunt, who resides in the country east, and John Corcoran, who works in the Katy shops.
