Angel of Grief is an 1894 sculpture by William Wetmore Story which serves as the gravestone for the artist and his wife at the Protestant Cemetery in Rome. "Angel of Grief" describes multiple grave stones throughout the world erected in the style of the Story Stone.

The "Angel of Grief" gravestone at Calvary Cemetery is inscribed with the surname PASTORE.

It is a common practice at the Calvary Cemetery for people to place a rose in the hand of the angel.

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you;
Before you were born, I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations."

Jeremiah 1:5
New King James Version
