Funeral services were held Monday morning for Mrs. Mary A. Braun, who died Saturday afternoon at a local hospital.  She had been ill for several years and was 81 years of age.  Msgr. Thomas Zachry of the St. Patrick's church officiated.  Interment was in Calvary cemetery, with Johnson-Moore in charge, following a rosary service.
Mrs. Braun was born at Srpingfield, Ohio, September 17, 1872, 6 days before the sale of the first town lots marked the birth of Denison.  She came here at the age of 5 years with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bocklett.
Mrs. Braun attended Kidd-Key College at Sherman where she studied art and music.  Her daughter and only immediat survivor, Miss Thelma Braun, long has been active in music circles here, serving 25 years as pianist for the Rotary club, as a teacher, and as chapel organist at Perrin for 13 years.
Mrs. Braun was a member of St. Patrick's church and the Woman's Benefit Association.  Her home for many years has been at 428 W. Morgan.  She also is survived by several nieces, including Mrs. Jeanette Green of Denison.

Denison - Graveside services for Thelma Braun, 95-year-old Denison resident, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 1998, in Calvary Cemetery.  She died Sunday, January 11, 1998 at Texoma Medical Center.  Father George Monaghan will officiate.  Johnson-Moore Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Thelma was born on June 2, 1902 in Denison, Texas the daughter of Fred and Mary A. Bocklett Braun.
Thelma was a member of a pio-neer Grayson County family.   She graduated from St. Xavier's Academy in Denison and from Kidd-Key Conservatory in Sherman, Texas.  Thelma was an artist pupil of the late Pettis Pipes and studied Organ and Public School Music at Austin College under the last George Case.  She also studied piano with Silvie Scienti and attended Draughn's Business College.  She was well known throughout North Texas and New Mexico as a teacher and musician.
Thelma played the Sousaphone with the Conquistadores Band during the summer months in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She was an organist for the Interdenominational Services at Perrin Air Force Base Chapel for 20 years.  She maintained a piano studio in her home and was an accompanist for the Denison Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris fellow.
Thelma was a member of the Bomar Cramer Music Club, honorary member of the Shakespeare Club, also the College Hill Travel Club in Sherman.  She was also a member of Friends of the Denison Public Library, 21 Club, Garden Club, SMU Alumni Association and Denison Rotary Club.
