Funeral services for Mrs. Tom Sloan, 24, were held at the Pilot Grove Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by Rev. C. Chumbley of Howe and Rev. J.A. Henderson of Pilot Grove.  Interment was in Bethel Cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart.
Pallbearers were Virgil Clark, Edwin Badgett, Murl Ryon, Clovis Childress, Edward Pritchett, and Robert Collins.
Mrs. Sloan died at 7 a.m. Tuesday in a Sherman hospital, to which she was taken Sunday.  Twin daughters, born prematurely Saturday are in the hospital and are expected to live.
Mrs. Helen Mae Burris Sloan was born December 3, 1913, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Burris, who reside northeast of Whitewright.  She married Tom Sloan November 3, 1937.  She was graduated from Whitewright High School with the class of 1932.
Surviving are her husband; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Bert Allen and Mrs. Marion Benson of Denison; two brothers, Homer Burris and Ray Burris of Whitewright; and twin daughters.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Earnheart chapel for William Thomas Sloan, 51, who died suddenly Tuesday while at  work for an electric company in Pecos where he was a bookkeeper.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. James Harper, Baptist minister, of Aubrey.  Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery [sic].
Mr. Sloan was born January 5, 1911 at Pilot Grove, son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Sloan.  He married Miss Helen Burris on November 24, 1937, who died July 12, 1938 at the birth of the couple's twin daughters.  He was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include his mother; 2 daughters, Mrs. Clyde Dickard of Hallsville, Texas, and Mrs. Harold D. Wilson of Sherman; one brother, Lucian of Slaton; 6 sisters, Mrs. Bruce Dixon of Bells; Mrs. D.R. Badgett of Floydada; Mrs. Roland Rhodes of Wilson; Mrs. Walter Haooland and Mrs. Loy Garland, both of Whitesboro; and Mrs. Freeman Lashley of Belton; and 2 grandchildren.
