Thursday, August 4, 1938 pg.4 Berry W. Rushing, 80, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home southeast of Whitewright. Funeral services were held at the Bethel Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by Rev. J.A. Henderson. Interment was in the Bethel cemetery, directed by Glen Earnheart. Pallbearers were six of his grandsons. Mr. Rushing was born August 29, 1857 in Bedford County, Tennessee and was married to Mary E. Allen December 24, 1878, coming to Texas in 1901. He was a member of the Baptist church at Trenton and had been making his home in recent years with his children. Surviving relatives include Mr. G.C. Hall of Amarillo; Mrs. Jennie Knox Elivert of Happy; Mrs. Carl Flannigan of Leonard; and Mrs. Will James, Mrs. E.R. McHone and Mrs. W.C. Key of near Trenton.
