BERRY PICKER DIES AFTER BEING BITTEN BY RATTLER

Sherman, Texas, June 12 - While picking berries in a patch at his home near Hagerman, in the northwest part of Grayson County, about 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon, L.D. Sweeney, a farmer, was bitten on the hand by a large rattlesnake. Four hours later he was dead. He is survived by his wife and three children.

FARMER DIES FROM RATTLESNAKE BIT
L.D. Sweeney, a farmer residing in the Hagerman community died at his home there about 10 o'clock last evening from the effects of a rattle snake bit, which he sustained about 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Sweeney was picking berries in a patch when he was bitten on the hand by the rattler, according to information received here. He did not see the snake but heard it after it had bitten him. A physician was summoned, but despite all that could be done, he succumbed 4 hours later. - - - Sherman Democrat
