Friday, October 20, 1944 pg. 8 DEATH ROLL Mrs. Ruth McGuire Short, 80, mother of the Rev. Ray B. Short, county superintendent of schools and pastor of the Baptist Church in Sherman, died in a Sherman hospital Sunday at 9 p.m. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Basin Springs Baptist Church with burial in the family cemetery. Rev. J.E. King and Rev. Clyde Beck officiated. Mrs. Short had lived in the Basin Springs community 67 years, going there with her parents from Tiutonville, Arkansas, where she was born July 20, 1864 [sic]. She was married to Rev. H.M. Short, pastor of the church in Basin Springs. Survivors are two sons, M.B. Short of Cleveland, Arkansas; and Rev. Short of Sherman; 2 daughters. Mrs. J.M. House of Basin Springs, and Mrs. Emma Cagle of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 37 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  Ethel Short 14 September 1897 - 17 August 1898 d/o H.M.
