Lake County Infirmary Records

The following records were found upon the closing of the Lake County Ohio Infirmary in Fall of 2004.

Documents Record of Paupers in Lake County Infirmary Commenceing July 22nd 1852. Covers July 1852 to April 1884. Pages numbered to 230 and indexed to Jan. 25, 1862. Beyond that is not numbered or indexed.
Includes chronological diary-like entries for admissions, discharges, deaths, burials, births, illnesses, etc.

8 1/2 x 14 298 pages Sept. 1, 1896 to June 20, 1911 (ends pg 106) coming apart, beginning to disintigrate.
Similar to above Record of Paupers.

Register of Inmates No. 1 ledger size 159 double pages
Covers Jan. 1, 1921 to May 18, 2004 on page 149.
This volume is not chronological but has one record (part of a page) for each inmate. This printed form book includes each of the resident's admissions and discharges, death, etc. Some of the first pages are inmates still in residence from the previous volume.

Classified Receipts & Expenditures No. 1 Infirmary Lake Co.
16 x 18 in two parts beginning Sept. 1, 1908, ending Nov. 5, 1923
Record of Infirmary Receipts -- pages 1 - 32 includes sources of income such as farm produce & stock, fromother counties, from inmates or their friends, from other sources (other than treasurer), total reciepts & payments into county treasury. They were selling wheat, milk, eggs, cows, hogs, chickens, hay, etc.
Ependitures -- pages 81-238 includes superintendant salary, matron, employees, physician, groceries, fuel & light, clothing, drugs & midicines, liquor & toacco, live stock; hay, grain & fee; vehicles, implements, tools & machinery; repairs, furniture, burial expenses, other expenses, totals. This section also includes Out-Door Relief (county care for those in need at home or in other people's homes.) This included physician, food, clothing, fuel, funeral expenses, transportation, nursing, and other. Inmate names not included.

Such information as $50.00 received from treasuer regularly, all outgo listed such as freight.

Daily Record of Movement of Population 8 1/2 x 15 top bound soft cover
1 page each month - lists daily number of males, females, total; number of inmates in and out; number of deaths that month and number received who were former inmates. No names listed.
