Willoughby Ear Marks 1815-1850

WILLOUGHBY TOWNSHIP RECORDS 1815, MSS #91 Western Reserve Historical Society - A RECORD OF THE EAR MARKS 1815-1850 For cattle, Sheep & Hogs for Ch(a)grin township, Cuyahoga County before 1840; now Lake County, Ohio.

Townships kept records of livestock ear marks, used like branding, so that ownership of animals was clear. Each farmer had his own distinctive mark, which had to be registered. The following list was published in The Report Vol. XIII, 1973 Winter Issue. It was copied Sept. 1972 by Nancy P. Turo, indexed Sept. 1972 by Frances Slack. It is presented here by Cynthia Turk without the index. Use the Find feature on your browser. Several people have multiple mentions.
