Reddenbaugh, Agnes ~ February 16, 2000. A graveside service for Agnes Marie Reddenbaugh, 89, a resident of Azusa, Calif., and frequent visitor to Genoa, will be held at Genoa Cemetery on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. She will be buried next to her husband, Roy. Mrs. Reddenbaugh was born Aug. 16, 1911, at Hot Creek Ranch in Nye County. She summered in Genoa at the home of her sister, Sonia DeHart, who has lived in the town for many years. Survivors also include her sons Roy and Harry and brother Robert Reddenbaugh of California and several nieces and nephews.

Reichel, Luise ~ Friday, February 25, 2000. Luise Reichel, 94, died on Feb. 18 in Gardnerville. She was born in Lubeck, Germany, on May 12, 1905, to Wilhelm and Ida Milatz Ehmcke. A Gardnerville resident for three years, Mrs. Reichel had previously lived in Oakland, Calif. She loved nature and enjoyed going out for coffee and doughnuts, and she was proud to be in the 90 Plus Club in Douglas County. Mrs. Reichel was predeceased by her husband Bruno Reichel, who died in 1983, and her sister Henny Loding. Surviving are her nephew and niece, Bob and Linda Loding of Zephyr Cove.

Reynolds, Atlanta ~ Wednesday, June 21, 2000. A funeral service for Atlanta A. Reynolds, 93, was held yesterday, June 20, at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Interment followed at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. Mrs. Reynolds died on June 16 in Carson City, where she resided after living eight years in Gardnerville. She was born on March 21, 1907, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Cecil and Julia Braddock Brown. At the age of 87, Mrs. Reynolds debuted with the Ann Robinson Dance Studio at Lake Tahoe, and for her 90th birthday, she went hot air ballooning in Palm Springs, Calif. At 91, she and 17 family members enjoyed a cruise around Mexico. She was predeceased by her husband Russ Joe Reynolds, who died in 1985 in Garland, Texas, where she lived before moving to Gardnerville. Surviving Mrs. Reynolds are her son Charley Jack Pate of Celeste, Texas, and daughters Audrey A. Byers of Carson City and Joann Colella of Livermore, Calif.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Richards, Jerome -Record Courier - Saturday, October 7, 2000. A funeral for Jerome Howard (Jerry) Richards, 59, will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at Walton's Funeral Home. Internment will follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Fernley. Mr. Richards died on Oct. 4 after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 27, 1940, in Wilton, N.Y., and graduated from high school in Yerington in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army and Nevada National Guard. In 1967, he joined the Nevada Highway Patrol, serving in Reno, Wells and Las Vegas, and was commander of the Nevada Highway Patrol Academy, Lake Tahoe and Carson City areas. During his career, Mr. Richards received many commendations for high profile felony arrests. In 1988, he was the Incline Village Optimist Club Officer of the Year. He was certified by federal and state courts as an expert witness in traffic accident investigations, use of police radar and impaired driving investigations. He retired in 1991 as a sergeant. Mr. Richards was a charter member and director of the Nevada Highway Patrol Association, twice honor president and life member of the Incline Village Optimist Club and twice president of the Western Nevada Peace Officers Association. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member of the National Rifle Association and the Nevada Rifle and Pistol Association and post commander, Carson City Capitol Post 4 of the American Legion. He was an accomplished outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Survivors include wife Janine of Carson City; daughters Michelle Cognase of Canyonville, Ore., Lisa Sleeper of Las Vegas and Cassandra Richards of Carson City and son Gregory Richards of Canyonville; brother Jim Richards of Las Vegas and sisters Ann Berger of Scottsdale, Ariz., Sandy Gailor of Washoe Valley and Barbara Mikuta of Carson City; stepmother Aruessa Atwell of Washoe Valley; half-brothers, John, David, Pat and Mike Richards, all of New York; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Rieger, Vern ~ December 4, 1999. Vern Allen Rieger, 62, died on Dec. 2 at his Gardnerville home. Inurnment was private. Mr. Rieger was born on Jan. 4, 1937, in Lemmon, S.D., to Adolph and Catherine Perman Rieger. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a police officer for 23 years in Oakland, Calif. He and Janice Kawaski were married in Minden on Sept. 3, 1983. Mr. Rieger had lived in Gardnerville since 1992 and worked for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in Minden. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and his best friend, his dog Dax. Predeceasing Mr. Rieger were his parents and sister, Betty Hill. Survivors include his wife Janice Rieger of Gardnerville; daughters Jeni Fritzberg of Pittsburg and Cheryl Tolman of Berkeley, Calif.; sisters Alvina Dickson of Danville, Calif., and Velma Thompson of Fargo, N.D.; and six grandchildren.

Robinson, Mary ~ Saturday, March 18, 2000. (with picture) Mary Doris Monica Hughes Fuller Robinson died on March 11 at her Gardnerville home. She was born in London, England, to Dr. Charles and Jesse Hughes and lived extensively in the Orient, specifically in Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Japan and Formosa. Mrs. Robinson had been a resident of Gardnerville since March 1988, coming from Sunnyvale, Calif. She was associated with a real estate brokerage firm in California. She also worked as a secretary, retiring in 1987. She was active in tap dancing groups and bridge playing groups. She served two years as treasurer of the local AARP chapter and two years as treasurer of the food closet. Surviving Mrs. Robinson are her husband, Albert C. Robinson of Gardnerville; daughters Penelope Blake of San Jose, Calif., and Barbara Fox of Belmont, Calif.; and brothers and sisters in Great Britain.

Romanelli, Joseph ~ Wednesday, October 11, 2000. Joseph Michael Romanelli, 80, died on Oct. 5 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Reno. He was born on July 25, 1920. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was captured on Corregidor in May 1942 and survived the remainder of the war as a prisoner in Japan. Following his military service, Mr. Romanelli graduated with a degree in American History from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He spent his working life as an investigator and later Assistant Chief of the San Francisco Region of the U.S. Civil Service, retiring at the age of 53. For the next 20 years, he and his wife traveled the American West. He became an expert amateur carpenter, building a sailboat and filling his home with hand-crafted wood furniture. Mr. Romanelli is survived by Jean, his wife of 53 years; children Elaine Romanelli, Susan Romanelli, Patricia McIntosh and Paula Delgado and son-in-law Anthony; and grandchildren Christina, Bubba, Christopher, Mitchell, Ryan, Peter, Megan, Kristopher and Brianna.

Rose, Robert ~ Saturday, July 1, 2000. A mass for Robert William Rose, 78, will be held today, July 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Carson City. Mr. Rose died on June 28 at Carson Health Care in Carson City. He was born on Nov. 26, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., to Jesse and Helen Tobin Rose. During World War II, he served with the 346th bomb squadron as a top turret gunner on a B-17 flying fortress. He flew 25 missions over Germany and was awarded the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Mr. Rose was a police officer for 25 years in Los Angeles and belonged to "Renew" and "Blue Line." He lived in Torrance, Calif., before moving to Carson City 18 years ago. Surviving are his wife Louise Rose of Carson City; daughters Maureen Mortimer of Gardnerville, Helen Nelson of Vancouver, Wash., and Cecelia Sciarrotta of Carson City and sons Robert Rose of Carson City and James L. Rose of New York; brother Lee Rose of Missouri and sisters Helen Miller of Carson City, Joann Dierks of Denver, Colo., Betty Hafner of Placentia, Calif., Shirley Henze of Carson City and Martha Dixon of California; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Rosse, Herman ~ Saturday, June 10, 2000. A memorial service will be held Monday for Herman L. Rosse, 85, who died June 7 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. He was born in Maxwell, Neb., Aug. 30, 1914, to Frank E. and Ada Johnston Rosse. He had lived in Smith Valley since 1957, coming from Nebraska. Mr. Rosse was a ranch manager and member of the Smith Valley Rotary Club and Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Moss Rosse. Survivors include wife Jenny Knighten Rosse of Gardnerville; son Verne of Carson City; daughter Dianne Farias and son Jerry, both of Smith Valley; brother James of Omaha, Neb.; five stepchildren; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. The service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Smith Valley Methodist Church, 44 Rivers Road, Smith Valley.

Ruby, Helen ~ Wednesday, September 20, 2000. Helen M. Ruby, 78, a Gardnerville resident of 10 years, died on Sept. 15. She was born on March 23, 1922, in Turlock, Calif. Surviving are her son David Ruby and his wife Shirley and granddaughters Kerri and Kristi, all of Minden; granddaughter Beth and her husband Howard, grandson Bobby, great-grandson Patrick and great-granddaughter Justeen, all of San Jose, Calif.; and sister Ruth Sherman of Gardnerville.
