Fair, Ralph ~ October 9, 1999. A memorial service for Ralph Stanley Fair, 90, will be held today, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville, with Pastor Larry Miller officiating. Mr. Fair died on Oct. 5 at Valley Meadows Living Center in Gardnerville. He was born in Verona, Pa., on July 13, 1909.He had lived in Nevada for 25 years, coming from Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Fair was a cabinet maker and installer. He was very active in bowling and enjoyed fishing and hunting. On Sept. 14, 1991, he married Mary Edna Hancock in Gardnerville. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, in 1990, sons Charles Fredrick, Richard Gayle and Michael Stanley, three brothers and one sister. Surviving are his wife Mary Fair of Gardnerville; son Frank Raymond Fair of Topaz Lake and daughter Charlotte Settelmeyer of Reno; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Farrell, Noel ~ Saturday, October 28, 2000. A Memorial Mass for Noel Alene Farrell, 76, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville, with Father Bill Nadeau presiding. Entombment will be at Eastside Memorial Park Cemetery in Minden. Mrs. Farrell died Oct. 23 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. She was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Oakland, Calif., to Camille and Katherine Cone Gentis. She and George M. Farrell were married in Las Vegas on Feb. 2, 1942. Mrs. Farrell was a resident of Gardnerville for 15 years and Lake Tahoe for 30 years, coming from Oakland, Calif. She was a bookkeeper for Harveys for 25 years and enjoyed working puzzles and swimming. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Camille Bush. Surviving are her nieces, Adrienne Hedgecock of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Noel Bennett of Antioch, Calif.

Fernandes, Stephanie ~ Saturday, April 22, 2000. A funeral and graveside service for Stephanie D'Ann Fernandes, 35, were held in Vancover, Wash., on April 10. Ms. Fernandes died of cancer at her Vancover residence on April 5. She was born on April 8, 1964, in Inglewood, Calif., and had lived in Gardnerville prior to her move to Vancover. She had been a bookkeeper for Vavoline Oil Company in Portland, Ore., for eight years. She enjoyed all outdoor activities, as well as bowling and softball. Preceding Ms. Fernandes in death were her mother Nancy Derr, grandparents John and Edna Fernandes and grandfather Oswald Lee Heath. Surviving are her son Nicolaus Steven Gerlitz; fiance Waymon Shadwick of Vancover; grandmother Phyllis Edzards of Auburn, Calif.; father and step-mother David and Debra Heath of Gardnerville; step-brother Shawn Sherwood of Sacramento, Calif.; aunts Carolyn McCarthy of Goleta, Calif., and Joyce Rolland Heath of Auburn; and several cousins, a niece and nephew.

Field, Lee ~ Wednesday, January 12, 2000. A memorial service for Lee H. Field, 61, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at The Fresh Ketch, 2435 Venie Dr., South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Mr. Field died at his Zephyr Cove home on Jan. 2. He was born on Sept. 6, 1938, in Omaha, Neb., to Irwin and Helen Johnson Field. He received his credentials from the University of California at Berkeley in 1968 and taught art and English at Davis Senior High School from 1968 to 1979. On March 22, 1988, he and Catherine J. Basas were married in Hayward, Calif. A Zephyr Cove resident for 10 years, Mr. Field was a facilities manager at Harrah's Lake Tahoe since 1990. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Field. Surviving are his wife Catherine J. Field of Zephyr Cove; sons Kevin Field of Bend, Ore., Gill Castillo of Oakley, Calif., and Perry Castillo of Reno, and daughter Kelly Wolfe of Cottage Grove, Ore.; sister Bernice Pierce of Seaside, Ore.; and 10 grandchildren.

Forbes, Elaine ~ Wednesday, May 3, 2000. Elaine Christy Forbes, 39, died on April 25 in Gardnerville. A private family memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Mrs. Forbes was born on July 10, 1960, in Hermosa Beach, Calif., to Delane and Eleanor Mohn Lytle. She was a resident of Gardneville for three years, coming from Cedar City, Utah. She worked for the Nevada Rural Water Association. She loved to read and hike and enjoyed traveling and being with her family. Survivors include her father Delane Lytle of Granada Hills, Calif., and mother Eleanor Lytle of Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; brother Brian Lytle of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and sisters Lori Pachowicz of Camarillo, Calif., Donna Lytle of Brentwood, Calif., and Brenda Lytle of Canyon Lake, Calif.; and three nieces and two nephews.

Foster, JoAnn ~ Saturday, September 30, 2000. A Celebration of Life will be held for JoAnn Foster, 61, today, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at 1315 Job's Peak Drive in Gardnerville. Mrs. Foster died on Sept. 24 at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif. She was born on Sept. 20, 1939, to Josephine and Fred Thomsen at their home in Centerville. She was an resident of the original Gardnerville Ranchos, where she lived her entire adult life. She graduated from Douglas County High School. On Sept. 22, 1978, she married Donald Foster. Mrs. Foster is survived by her husband; children Michael and Karen Sinclair of Gardnerville, Michelle and Wade Keith of Reno and Monica Sinclair of Gardnerville; sisters Betty Beck and RoseMary Laird, both of Carson City, and brothers Francis Thomsen and Willie Thomsen, both of Gardnerville, Hank Thomsen of Genoa, Roy Thomsen of Mina and Robert Thomsen and Fred Thomsen, both of Carson City; grandchildren Sean, Crystle and Ryan Sinclair of Gardnerville, Michael and Ronny Griffin of Gardnerville, and Wayland and Justine Keith and Cherray Carey, all of Reno; great-grandson Dillon Carey of Reno; and four great-nieces and 11 great-nephews.

Franz, Herman ~ Wednesday, July 5, 2000. A mass for Herman Joseph Franz, 78, will be held tomorrow, July 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Minden. Mr. Franz died on July 2 at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City. He was born on Feb. 1, 1922, in Appletin, Wisc., to Emil and Kate Wittmann Franz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Franz received a bachelor's of science degree and worked as a chemical and corrosive engineer. He resided in Gardnerville for the past 12 years, coming from Richmond, Calif. Survivors include his wife Rosemary Meulemans Franz; daughter Margaret Ann Franz of Lafayette, Calif., and son John Franz of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.

Frazier, Arvie ~ November 13, 1999. A funeral service for Arvie Mae Frazier, 87, was held on Nov. 11. at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Inurnment followed at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden. Mrs. Frazier died on Nov. 9 at Valley Meadows Living Center in Gardnerville. She was born in Sparks, Okla., on May 5, 1912, to James and Mary Ferguson Durbin. Mrs. Frazier was a resident of Gardnerville for 15 years, coming from Montrose, Colo. She loved country music and enjoyed being with her family. She was married to Haskell Rich of Yerington, who died on May 1, 1988, and to Owen Frazier, who died on Nov. 16, 1993. Also predeceasing Mrs. Frazier were her parents, daughter Joy Bernice Miller, son Ernest Gene Rich, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her daughters Darlene Tea of Gardnerville and Loydell Warkentin of Shade Cove, Ore., and sons Haskell Rich Jr., of Carson City, Robin Rich of Yreka, Calif., and Jerry Rich of Pilot Hill, Calif.; sister Evelyn of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

French, Robert ~ Saturday, October 30, 1999. Robert Lee French, 84, died at his Wellington home on Oct. 23. He was born on Jan. 8, 1915, in Washington to George and Mae Vernier French. He was in the Merchant Marines until his retirement. In July 1994, Mr. French moved to Nevada from Redding, Calif. He enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. Mr. French was predeceased by his wife, who died in January 1994. He is survived by his sons Lawrence Galarpez of the San Francisco Bay area, Patrick Herrmann of Sparks and Chester Sherry of San Francisco and daughters Laurie Grove of Wellington, Monica Smith of Reno and Sonia Bodner of San Pedro, Calif.; brother Donald A. French of Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Fulstone, Margaret ~ Saturday, August 5, 2000. A funeral service for Margaret Murry Fulstone, 76, will be held tomorrow, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Fulstone Home Ranch in Topaz, Calif., with Fr. Kevin Sweeney officiating. Interment will be at Fulstone Family Cemetery, Monitor Pass, Calif. Mrs. Fulstone, a resident of Topaz for 56 years, died on Aug. 2 at her home. She was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa, on Dec. 12, 1923. Mrs. Fulstone was preceded in death by her husband Barton Fulstone in 1955, her son Ed Fulstone in 1988 and sister Jeanne Johnson. Surviving are daughters Suellen Fulstone of Reno, Mary Hussman of Topaz and Georgeanne Pucillo of Eureka, Calif.; sisters Ruth Smith of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Marian Kennedy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother-in-law Paul Fulstone of Sparks; daughter-in-law Kathi Fulstone of Coleville, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funk, Marguerite ~ Saturday, June 10, 2000. Marguerite (Rita) Funk of Gardnerville died May 25 in Olympia, Wash. She was 79. Mrs. Funk was a longtime resident of the Kingslane mobile home community, moving to the area in the early 1970s. She was head cashier at the Outdoorsman Store at South Lake Tahoe and also worked at the Carson City store. She is survived by her daughter Janice Murphy of South Lake Tahoe; son, Bill Funk of Olympia, Wash.; and grandchildren Tammy and Michael Murphy of South Lake Tahoe and Ronelle Kaplowitz and Vince Funk of Olympia. Mrs. Funk will be buried next to her husband Wilton (Bill) Funk in the military section of the Lone Mountain Cemetery. Services will be Friday, June 16, at 10 a.m.
