Dedication Cemermony

         Our chartering ceremony took place on July 28, 2002, at the Crabtree-Mullins family reunion.  Visiting officers were:  Sam Lougheed, Division President, Delores Smith, Division Vice President, Suzy Masters-Coresponding Secretary, Ramsey McNeil, Chairman of Organization of New Chapters, and Sue Ann Boothe, First District Chairman.  We appreciate their coming.  After the chartering ceremony we had lunch which included period dishes such as cracklin’ bread, chicken and dumplins’ , shuck beans-dried beans-, molasses stack cake and souse. We then moved the program to the Mullins-Peak cemetery and had the Stone, Flag and Iron Cross dedications to Pvt. Lockard Hamilton, Co. H, 26th Regiment, Virginia Cavalry, C.S.A.  As well as the Va. Division officers that attended, we also had Mr. Bud Phillips, Va. Delegate, Bobby Hammons, Sheriff of Dickenson Co., Andre’ Peak who represented the Va. State Police, several representatives for the Dickenson Co. Rescue Squad, Jenelle Murphy, a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy from Tupelo Mississippi, Darlene Mullins, Order of Southern Gray, Bobby Dotson and Ronnie Robbins, Dickenson Co. Commissioner of Revenue as well as two of the many representatives from the Cumberland Mountain Rangers camp 1798, Dickenson Co. Sons of the Confederates, Dickenson Co. Memorial Post 8979 VFW, DAV chapter 35, American Legion Post 227, Charles Embrey, Fredricksburg camp Sons of the Confederates and a host of friends, relatives and neighbors.  Despite the extreme temperatures of the day, everyone had a wonderful time.  Thanks to everyone who came and helped to make our day special.
