He served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the Asiatic and South Pacific, receiving two Bronze Stars for the Saipan and Iwo Jima Campaign.
He also received a Republic of the Philippines Presidential Unit Citation Badge, the American Theater Services Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Service Ribbon,
World War II Victory Ribbon, Southern Defense Ribbon, and a good conduct medal.
