The Free Lance, May 1920:

THE LATE R. B. TOLSON

This community was deeply saddened at the death of Mr. Raymond B. Tolson, wich occurred Sunday, May 9, 1920. He had been sick only a short while and was thought to be improving, but rapidly grew worse a few days before the end came. His sister, Mrs. Gaines of Gainesville, and brother, Henry, of Culpeper, were summoned and arrived just in time to bid him a fond adieu. He leaves his wife and four children, one sister and two brothers to mourn their loss, besides other relatives and a host of friends. He was a devoted husband and father and a friend to all who knew him. Only those who knew him could appreciate the kindly and noble nature of one whom God saw fir to take in the prime of his life.

Funeral services were held at his home at Tackett’s Mill by Rev. Mr. Hutchinson, and the remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground at Stafford Store. He was a victim of inward trouble, followed by influenza, and now that his brief life is finished he has gone to his eternal reward. May the grace of God sustain his loved one.

Dear is the grave where he is laid, Sweet is the memory that will never fade.

A Devoted Cousin. Contributed by Donna Tolson
