Edrington Family Cemetery

Special Note: Just wanted to share some information on the Edrington Family Cemetery. The family cemetery
is located within a yet undeveloped part of the Aquia Overlook development. The Aquia Overlook Development is a private development managed by a home owners association.  On several occasions my neighbors and myself have had strangers walking thru our property in search of the cemetery or the way back out.  I thought that you might want
to let the individuals who look up that site know that the Edrington Family Cemetery is located on private property and also that it is very easy to get lost in those woods not to mention the deer hunters that are out there this
time of year.

Special Note: April 2007

All the graves listed on the Edrington Cemetery are now inside a wooden fence built by the Boy Scouts. The Cemetery is now accessible by car by driving to the end of Decatur Rd, then into Aquia Overlook. The Quarry road entrance has now been closed by Garrett Land Development.  I have located at least two other older graves near what was, as I have been told, the Edrington Plantation house. One grave is marked with a tombstone label John C. Edrington died 1820 at age 45. the second is only marked by two field stones. The area around these two graves is extremely overgrown. There are probably more graves in this area that are  overgrown. If you would like any other information feel free to contact me. Scott Buchanan Blugrassscott@aol.com

This cemetery is located on Tax Map 31 Parcel 16A. You go to the end of Quarry Road (Route 692), then follow the dirt road on the right that is perpendicular to Quarry Road for about a mile. We visited this cemetery in April 1996. The information for this cemetery was provided by Barbara Kirby who visited the cemetery. Barbara said there were actually two cemeteries there. One surrounded by a fence and a second cemetery where the people were buried outside the fence. The people buried inside the fenced part of the cemetery are:
