Clermont Cemetery
Contributed by: Homer Musselman
The people buried at Clermont were
re-interred at Aquia Episcopal Church Cemetery and are also listed under that
cemetery. The information listed here was taken from the Stafford County WPA
Report. This report states that John Moncure bought Clermont in 1727. The estate
was inherited by his son, John Moncure (2), in 1786. John Moncure (2) willed the
estate to his son, John Moncure (3), in 1796. Edwin Moncure inherited Clermont
in 1800. Agatha Moncure inherited Clermont from her father, Edwin Clermont.
Agatha Moncure married George G. Glasscock. Clermont was acquired by the U.S.
Government when the Quantico Marine Base was expanded.
