Subject: WILLIAMS, JONAS, JONES, GUNN
I am trying to trace my mom's roots. Here are my surnames and I would like to ask for anyone who is able to help me in my search to email me. My names are, from oldest reference (great- great-parents)to my generation: Harvey Williams married to Christina ?, my great-grand parents: John Williams and Susie Jonas Williams; Nathaniel Williams and Rebecca Jane Jones Williams; grand-parents: James Wesley Williams to Nannie Christina Williams Williams (they were evidently cousins); my mom is: Mary Rebecca Williams Gunn. I am Leigh Gunn. I am trying to find out more about Rebecca Jane Jones and what we believe to be a Cherokee Indian connection. We are unsure which of the grandmothers was the Cherokee or had the Cherokee blood and are trying to tie all this in. I would also like to know if anyone can lead me further back than Harvey and Christina. All lived in Smyth County, Virginia and some of my aunts are still there. We do believe our Williams ancestors may have lived in Tennessee before Virginia. Thanks!
