These are copies of actual records found in the Shenandoah County courthouse. I am leaving it up to you to interpret the writing. If you wish a copy, just print it out. These records cannot be copyrighted and I am putting them here to help you in your research. The pictures I have taken of the pages are copyrighted but you may use these images in any manner to benefit your research as long as the images are not used for profit nor financial gain. You may not place these images on your own website but you may link to these pages.

These records need to be indexed. I am looking for volunteers to do just that. If each of you visiting these pages will index just one page for me it will make it much easier to find your ancestors in these records.

I am leaving these pictures large to make for easier viewing. Believe me, it's well worth the download time.

The records I have on my site regarding bastardy bonds, criminal records, and orphans have been removed. Some of you have asked for copies from the courthouse and the clerks there cannot make copies for you. These records cannot be copied on the copier and they are not indexed. I have gotten these new records for you which have dates and you will not need to ask for a copy since you can copy these.

For better viewing, save the record to disk by clicking on the right side of your mouse. Use your software to enlarge the image. Some of the pages are quite dark at the bottoms. Use your contrast and light features in your software to make these images better for reading.

Use the BACK button on your computer to return to this page. I prefer to leave these pages with no other writing on them for those wishing copies for their research.

These pages ARE dated. When you find something missing a date, go backwards on the pages until you find a date. The court held many proceedings in one day. The date is not on every page; therefore, you must hunt.
