Nathaniel Scott Foltz, son of John and Mary Magdalen (Funk) Foltz, was born near Forestville on 5 July 1838 and died near Forestville on 22 December 1916. On 24 December 1863, Scott married Susanna Pence, daughter of Philip Pence. Susanna was born 13 December 1836 and died 23 September 1916. They are buried in the cemetery of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Forestville. Scott was a carpenter. He served in Company G, 136th Militia, and transferred to Capt. Koontz's cavalry company. He enlisted as a private in Company K, 7th Virginia Cavalry, at Martinsburg on 20 February 1862 and was a corporal when the war ended. He was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, with black hair and black eyes. Scott lived east of Forestville.
