Long - Shomo Marriage.

At 6.30 p. m., in St. Matthew Lutheran church, in this place, Miss Annie M. Long and Mr. Arthur L. Shomo were united in marriage, the pastor Rev. J.A. Snyder D. D. officiating. The chancel was beautifully decked with evergreens and potted plants for the occasion. Mrs. Lester Strickler played Mendelssohn's wedding march as the bridal party filed up the center aisle to the chancel and rendered the "Flower Song" during the ceremony. Miss Phoebe M. Shaffer and Mr. Emmet E. Foltz, Miss Daisy Long sister of the bride and Mr. Casper Driver were the attendants.

The bride was attired in a silver gray granite cloth dress, trimmed with white silk and applique, wore a velvet hat and gloves to match and carried a white prayer book. The bridesmaids wore white organdie with white ribbons and the groom and groomsmen black suits. A large number of relatives, friends, and acquaintances witnessed the interesting ceremony.

Immediately after the marriage the bridal party and invited guests repaired to the home of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Long where a nice, palatable, and bounteous wedding supper was served to the gratification of the participants.

The bride was the recipient of a large number of nice, useful, and beautiful present.

At the cutting of the bride's cake no little fun and merriment were enjoyed. After several futile attempts to locate the darning needle the contest resulted finally as follows: Miss Daisy Long got the ring, Miss Maude Shaffer the money, and Miss Lina A. Spitzer the darning needle.

A reception will be held today at the home of the groom's father Mr. Thomas Shomo at Tenth Legion; the next day another at the home of the groom's sister Mrs. Jos. Driver; and on Sunday still another at the home of the groom's brother Mr. Wm. Shomo in the same locality.

This office returns thanks to the bride's father Mr. Charles L. Long for a generous share of the delicious wedding cake, and all unite in expressing the sentiment for the happy couple. May they live long and prosper.

Note: There is no exact date on this marriage. It was published sometime in December 1903.
