Henkel - Newman Marriage. On Thursday at 8 o' clock in the evening, Oct. 11, 1900, at the home of the bride's father Mr. John C. Henkel, Basic City, Va., Miss Mary Constance Henkel and Mr. William Newman, formerly of New Market, Va., were united in marriage. The ceremony was gracefully and impressively performed by Rev. E.C. Kronk, of Waynesboro, after which amid sweet music rendered by Miss Lula Page, the happy couple and numerous invited guests repaired to the dining-room, where all enjoyed the elegant refreshments. The bride was the recipient of some very pretty and useful presents. The following day they left for Shendun to visit Mrs. Frank Wise, a sister of the bride. The happy couple began housekeeping in Basic City last Monday. |
