For the Shenandoah Valley Mr. Crist Weds Miss Abbott Marriage and Reception in Chicago On Wednesday evening, June 12, 1901, at 8.15 o' clock, at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklyn Abbott, 1066 N. Robey St., Chicago, Ills., Mr. Jos. E. Crist, formerly of New Market, Va., and Miss Inez Pearl Abbott, were united in marriage by Elder William R. Miller, of the Brethren church. Mr. D. J. Crist, the groom's brother, acted as best man, and Miss Mamie Schroder, of Detroit, Mich., a college chum of the bride, as maid of honor. Only the immediate families of the bride and groom were present, excepting Mr. George Bixby, of Oak Park, Ill., an intimate friend of the bride's parents. The bride was attired in an elegant costume of turquoise blue mouseline desoie and crepe dechine, trimmed with applique lace. The groom was dressed in a correct black dress suit. Immediately after the ceremony a sumptuous repast was served to those present. On the following Saturday evening the bride's parents tendered the bride and groom a reception, about thirty-five guests being present. The evening was spent in mirth, music, song and pleasant conversation until the hour for refreshments. Then the kind hostess invited her guests to sit down to a table loaded with all the good things and delicacies that can only be prepared for such an occasion. After thinking the kind host and hostess for the pleasant evening spent, and many well wishes for the bride and groom, the guests departed for their homes. The presents were numerous, costly, and useful. We know that the groom's many Virginia friends will join with his Chicago friends, in wishing the happy couple a long and prosperous journey through life. One There. |
