About a mile northwest of the "White House" is Locust Vale, the old home place of Henry Kagey. Here was born, 22 Dec 1876, John Henry Kagey's son. Charles L. Kagey, now (1927) of Kansas, who was U.S. Minister to Finland under President Warren G. Harding. Here was probably the birthplace also of Abram Neff Kagey, brother of Henry Kagey, who was one of the sons of Shenandoah that went to the gold fields of California in the 1850's. John Henri Kagi, son of A.N. Kagey, was John Brown's "Secretary of War," killed at Harper's Ferry in 1859.
