In the name of God amen I, Adam Brodbeck of the county of Shenandoah in the Colony of Virginia yeoman being sickly and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto god. Therefore calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the hands of the almighty god who gave it, and my body I roccamand to the earth to be burryed in a Decent Christian Burial at the descretion of my executor not doubting but at the general resurection I shall leave the same again by the power of Almighty god.

...(illegible) and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First I ordain that my lawful debts be paid and discharged out of my estate. And whereas I have made a contract with my wife be fore our marriage whereby she hath no right to my estate which can be seen in the records of the county office and so she is entirely excluded in this last will And next, I give and ordain five pounds to my son Adam as his birthright he being my oldest son and whereas I have given unto my daughters Anna and Rosina to each a coe and som money in my lifetime I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Barbary a cow and a bed the uper bed to be of feathers.

And further I ordain unto my sons Adam John Jacob and Philip thirty pounds to be given each out of my estate and the remainder to be equal divided amongst all of my children.

And I further ordain and it is my will that my Plantation whereon i now live either be rented out either to one of my sons or in case they dont choose to rent the same it shall be rented to a stranger until my youngest son Philip shall come upon age and then they shall sell the same plantation unto one of my sons or if noen is inclined to purchase the same they may sell the same to a stranger and my son Adam shall make a good deed for the purchaser of said plantation and whereas I have sold in my life a certain tract of land in Pauls fourth between the treetop mountains which i have sold unto George Hoan Jorden and it is my will that my son Adam shall make a good deed unto said George Hoan for the same. The money which will become due for the same shall likewise divided between all my children equally and in case son Adam should die before my youngest son should come upon age my other executor shall give or make a deed or deeds for said lands which shall stand by law.

And further it is my will after my decease my moveable estate to be sold by Publick and the money thereof equal divided amongst my children and in case one of my children should die under age the rest shall divide his share equally amongst themselves. And Lastly I appoint and ordain my son Adam and my son in law Abraham Funkhouser to the executors of this my last will and testament and I hereby annull and remove all former wills, legates what so ever and declaring this to be my last will and testament in witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the day and year first written above.
