The Daniel Eberly Home

Daniel Eberly of Strasburg bequeathed (after the death of his wife) his brick home on lot #46 to Joseph Eberly, his son. J.C. Eberly died intestate about 1900, leaving as his only heir at law, E.C. Eberly, who inherited all his land, etc. Will Book T, pages 370

It was, in 1937, the property of the Government, but the deed had not been recorded at that time.

This brick house has ten large rooms, six of which have large fireplaces in them. There is also a large fireplace in the basement, which was used for cooking. The woodwork is hand-planed and heavy girders support the floors. The front entrance is on the street and opens into a hall with an open-string stairway. A side porch was added at a later date. The walls are plastered and papered, and also have chair rails. The partitions are made of hand-planed wide boards. The doors are of the six-panel, double cross variety.
