Miller the stone house and lot situated in the northeastern part of Strasburg on what is known as Mud Lane, and is part of the property purchased of his father, John W. 11 Feb 1901: George W. Miller sold to Anna V. Miller, for the sum of $600, a house and lot in the northeastern part of Strasburg, on what is known as Mud Lane, being the same conveyed by John W. F. Winsburrow and wife, to George W. Miller. Deed Book 54, page 83

This is a small stone house, built along the street with a small front porch, which was evidently built at a later date. The front of the house is of regularly arranged stone, each cut in a rectangle, while the rest of the house is irregular. The windows and part of the interior have been remodeled, but some of the doors still have a three pane transom. The walls are very thick, about eighteen inches.

The house has a metal gabled roof and two stone inside chimneys. There are ten windows with four 18x30 panes and shutters, with some movable slats. The front porch has turned posts and fancy balusters, and the entrance has two long glass doors with two panels below and a three pane transom.

There are eight small rooms with eight and one half foot ceilings. The cellar has a packed ground floor. The heavy pine doors are six-panel with two crosses and three pane transoms with outside common iron locks and hinges. The floors are of narrow boards and the four mantels are small and of similar design: maple and walnut woods in alternate panels and rose blocks.

Dr. Thomas J. Miller of Strasburg, was the oldest son of Jacob and Ellen Miller, who were married in 1809. He was a student at the University of Virginia in 1830, 1832, and later received a medical degree in Philadelphia. His eldest son, Randolph Russell, was a student at V.M.I. and later a Major on Gen. Jackson's staff.
