William B. Giles Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know Ye that in conformity with a survey made on the nineteenth of March 1828 by virtue of a Land office Treasury warrant No. 6784 issued February 20 1820, there is Granted by the said Commonwealth unto Solomon Veatch a certain Tract or parcel of Land containing One hundred acres, situate in the County of Shenandoah in Powels big fort, and bounded as followeth, to wit: Beginning at a red Oak and two small pines a corner to the lands of Michael Kniesley and Jacob Ridenour at the foot of the South Fort Mountain and extending from thence with said Ridenours line S. 28° W. 212 poles to a pine tree and three black oak saplings in said line, thence leaving said liine S. 60° E. 76 poles to a pile of stones between two hickory and an Oak saplings on the East side of the top of said Mountain, thence crossing and extending along the west side of the top of said mountain N. 28 1/2° E. 213 poles to three pines, thence down said Mountain N. 67 1/2° W. 33 poles to two pines corner to the land of Michael Kniesley and thence N. 63° W. 43 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances To the said Solomon Veatch and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said William B. Giles Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the twenty sixth day of November in the Year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty nine and of the Commonwealth the fifty fourth. |
