GRANT TO SAMUEL STOVER

Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall come Greeting:

Know ye that by virtue of a Warrant issued from the late Lord Proprietors Office of the Northern Neck and in Consideration of the Ancient Composition of one pound ten Shillings Sterling paid by John Hurst into the Treasury of the Commonwealth, There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Samuel Stover as Assignee of John Hurst heir at law to Thomas Hurst dec'd a certain tract or parcel of land Containing two hundred & Eighty three Acres by Survey bearing Date the fifth day of December one thousand seven hundred and Seventy Eight, Lying & being in the County of Shenandoah and bounded as followeth to-wit

Beginning at a pine in or near the Grant line extending thence South twenty one West Forty Six poles to three black oaks Corner to Edward Humstead (?) thence with his line South twenty seven degrees West one hundred and Seventy poles to a white oak and Pine his corner thence North five degrees West sixty two poles to a pine corner to Samuel Stover thence with his line North Seventy five degrees West one hundred and Sixty poles to a pine and Sapling white oak his Corner thence North three degrees West one hundred and ten poles to a Gum on the River Bank in or near the Grant line thence with said Grant line North Sixty one degrees East Sixteen poles to a black oak Corner to the Grant thence with an other of said lines North forty Seven degrees East one hundred and fifty poles to a pine at or near the Grant corner thence South forty six and a half degrees East one hundred and Eighty eight poles to the beginning with its Appurtenenaces

To Have and To Hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Samuel Stover and his Heirs forever

In Witness whereof the said Beverly Randolph, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine and of the Commonwealth the thirteenth.
