John Tyler, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all to whom these presents shall come greeting: Know Ye, That by virtue of a Land office Treasury, Warrant Number nine hundred and sixty two, issued the eleventh day of December one thousand seven hundred and ninety four, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Peter Baker a certain Tract or parcel of Land, containing forty-four acres by survey bearing date the twelfth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eight; lying and being in the county of Shenandoah, on some drains of Stony creek, near the Little north mountain and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a pine and white oak sapling corner to the heirs of Peter Baker deceased; thence with their line south forty degrees east fourteen poles to a black oak and white oak sapling corner to Paul Hammans heirs thence with their line south thirty degrees west one hundred and sixty poles to two white oaks and a chesnut oak, their corner, thence south twenty-nine degrees, east thirty six poles to two black oaks, thence south sixty eight degrees, west thirty one poles to two pines and a hickory, then north sixty eight degrees west twenty eight poles to a heap of stones near two blazed pines in a line of James Machirs mountain survey, and with the same north thirty five degrees east sixty nine poles to three white oaks, north seventy poles to a white oak, two spanish oaks, a poplar, locust and maple by a branch, thence leaving the same north seventeen degrees east, one hundred and twenty poles to two pines on the end of a large ridge thence south seventy degrees east, sixty four poles to two pines and thence south thirty five degrees, west forty five poles to the beginning; with its appurtenances; To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances, to the said Peter Baker and his heirs forever In witness whereof the said John Tyler, Esquire; governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and Caused the lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed Richmond on the first day November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine and of the Commonwealth the thirty-fourth. |
