LAND GRANT TO JAMES H. ORNDORFF

"in Shenandoah County on the drains of Cedar Creek"

Henry A. Wise Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:

To all to whom these presents shall come -- GREETING: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the eighth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven by virtue of a Land Office Treasury Warrant, no 20,573, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto James H. Orndorff, a certain Tract or Parcel of land, containing three acres and seven tenths, lying in Shenandoah County on the drains of Cedar Creek, and bounded as follows, viz:

Beginning at a black walnut, corner to a lot of land which the said Orndorff purchased of Watkins James; thence with a line of said lot S. 74 1/4° W 45 1/2 poles to a rock between a pine sapling & a chestnut tree. Thece with said James lines N. 19 1/4° E. 4 poles and 6 links to a dead spanish oak. Thence N. 44 3/4° E. 39 poles & 8 links to a dogwood sprout near a locust tree in John Orndorff's line, thence with his lines; S 23° E. 2 1/2 poles to a white Oak; Thence N. 61 1/4° E. 4 poles and 6 links to a stake, corner to a lot of land assigned to Lewis Orndorff's heirs; Thence with their line S. 27 1/4° E. 21 poles & 15 links to the beginning with its appurtenances.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said James A. Orndorff and his heirs forever.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said Henry A. Wise Esquire, Governor of the Comonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine and of the Commonwealth the eighty third.
