James L. Pleasants, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know ye that in conformity with a survey, made by order of a land office treasury warrant No. 5641, on the 14th day of June 1824, issued March 19th 1816, this is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Jacob Sheetz and John Mourer in trust and their successors a certain tract or parcel of land containing half an acre, situated in the County of Shanandoah, on the East side of, and near the Narrow Passage Creek for a school house and Seminary of learning for the inhabitants in the neighborhood of the narrow Passage Creek in the County aforesaid and bounded as followeth viz: Beginning at a heap of stones put together corner to Philip Williams in a line of John Mourer's land ascending North with said Mourer's line N 1° W 21 1/2 poles to a stake near the school house, on the south side of a hill where two pines and a black oak formerly stood corner to George Grandstaff's land; thence with his line 86° E 8 poles to a locust stake where a pine formerly stood near a walnut tree corner to said Grandstaff in a line Ajaid (adjacent?) Philip Williams land; thence with his line 19° W 22 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances, to the said Jacob Sheetz & John Mourer, in trust as aforesaid & their heirs forever. Whereas the said James Pleasant, Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the (?) & seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the 15th day of February 1825, & of the Commonwealth the fiftieth. |
