Joseph Johnson Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whome these Presents shall come - GREETING: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the thirteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and fifty three; by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant, No. 20,354 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Jonathan Miller a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing fourteen acres, lying in Shenandoah County, on the east side of Stony Creek & on the north side of Stony creek ridge, and bounded as follws, Viz: Beginning at three pines in said Miller's line: thence S 42° E. 28 poles to a chestnut oak by a hollow in Christian Mumaw's line; thence with his line N. 35° E. 62 1/2 poles to an old corner of said Miller's land, thence with his lines, N. 31 1/2° W. 58 poles to a pine stump between a white oak & a maple; thence S. 44 1/2° W. 20 poles to a small white pine & a pine, where the old deed calls for a pine on a cliff near the creek; thence S. 43° E. 31 poles to a gum & a white oak, thence S. 37 3/4° W. 53 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Jonathan Miller and his heirs forever. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the said Joseph Johnson Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hat hereunto set his hand, and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four and of the Commonwealth the seventy ninth. |
