GRANT TO JOHN BEAM (BOEHM)

Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia

To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting

Know ye that by virtue of a Warrant Issued from the late lord Proprietors Office of the Northern Neck and in consideration of the Ancient Composition of one pound ten Shillings Sterling paid by John Beam into the Treasury of this Commonwealth, There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said John Beam a Certain tract or parcel of Land Containing two hundred and Seventy six Acres, by Survey bearing Date the Sixteenth day of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty six; Lying and being in the county of Shanandoah on the Blue Ridge and Bounded as followeth to wit

Beginning at a Chesnut oak on the side of the Blue Ridge and Corner to Land surveyed for Wendel Shaunk thence with his line South thirty degrees East one hundred and Forty two poles to a Black oak and white oak, thence leaving Shaunks line North sixty degrees East one hundred and twenty six poles to a white oak near some rocks in the line of the Land Surveyed for Martin Beam on the Blue Ridge thence with the lines of the said Survey North seventy seven degrees West sixty four poles, to a Spanish oak and Chesnut oak North thirty seven degrees East one hundred and Sixty poles to a Chesnut tree South thirty seven degrees East one hundred and thirty five poles to three Chesnut oaks thence leaving Martin Beam's line North sixteen Degrees East sixty six poles to a Locust between two large white oaks North thirty eight Degrees West down the Blue ridge one hundred and seventy poles to two Locusts and a Hickory standing in the said John Beam's line thence with the same South thirty eight Degrees West fifty two poles to two Chesnut Trees his Corner thence with another of his Lines North forty six Degrees West Ninety poles to a Chesnut tree his Corner in Peter Heveler's (?) line thence with his line South forty two Degrees West one hundred and seventy poles to two small Chesnut trees in said line Corner to said Wendel Shaunk with his line South fifty five Degrees East thirty four poles to a Dogwood in a very stoney Hollow South twenty seven Degrees West forty nine poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances to the said John Beam and his heirs for ever

In witness whereof the said Beverly Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine and of the Commonwealth the fourteenth.
