Edmund Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia to all to whom these presents shall come greeting Know ye that by virtue of a warrant Issued from the late Lord Proprietors Office of the Northern Neck and in Consideration of the Ancient Composition of two pounds sterling paid by Joseph Miller unto the Treasury of this Commonwealth, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said Joseph Miller heir at law to Jacob Miller Decd a Certain tract or parcel of land Containing three hundred and Seventy five Acres by Survey bearing Date the twenty fifth day of November one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Six lying & being in the County of Shannandoh on both sides of the Greenbrier a branch of Passage Creek and in little Powells Fort and bounded as followeth To wit: Beginning at two white oaks standing on the South Easterly side of a path and near the same and extending thence North fifty two degrees West (crossing the valley of said Fort) one hundred and forty two Poles to a hickory and a Red oak on the side of a Mountain thence along the side of said Mountain South thirty five degrees West two hundred and forty poles to a black oak & three chesnut oaks standing on the side of the said mountain thence South twenty one Degrees East Crossing the said Valley & the said branch three hundred and twenty poles to two red oaks & two dogwood Saplings on the North side of a Mountain and near a Gap of said Mountain and thence North Seventeen & a half Degrees, East four Hundred & twenty poles to the beginning - with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land With its appurtenances the said Joseph Miller & his heirs for ever In witness whereof the said Edmund Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond the Twenty eighth day of April in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Eighty Eight & of the Commonwealth the twelfth. |
