Thomas M. Randolph, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia:

To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting:

Know ye, That in conformity with a survey made on the 26th day of October 1821, by virtue of a Land office Treasury warrant No. 5023, issued the 5th February, 1803; there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto George Hottel (tanner) a certain tract or parcel of Land, containing Four acres, situate in the County of Shenandoah near the north mountain and some of the drains of Funks mill run, and bounded as followeth to wit

Beginning at four spanish oak saplings on a hill side corner to Abraham Smutz in the said George Hottel's line; thence with his line North thirty five degrees east twelve poles to a pile of Stones put together on Jacob Syver's line; thence with his line north fifty one degrees west fifty four poles to another pile of stones put together near a marked chesnut oak and black oak; and thence South thirty five degrees west eleven poles to two chesnut oaks corner to John Hottel in the said Abraham Smutz's line and thence with his line south fifty degrees east fifty four poles to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said George Hottel, and his heirs forever.

In witness whereof the said Thomas M. Randolph Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, had hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the tenth day of June, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty two and of the Commonwealth the forty sixty.
