The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron of Cameron in that part of Great Britain called Scotland Proprietor of The Northern Neck of Virginia, To all to whom this present Writing shall come sends Greetings Know ye that for good Causes for & in Consideration of the Composition to me paid & for the annual Rent hereinafter reserved I have given granted & confirmed & by these Presents for me my Heirs & Assigns do give grant & confirm unto Christiana Miller of Dunmore County Widow & Devisee of Abraham Miller decd: a certain Tract of Waste & ungranted Land on a Branch of the North River of Shannandoah in the said County bounded by a Survey thereof dated April 29th 1752 made for the said Abraham Miller by Robert Rutherford and Forfeited by Virtue of an Advertisement issued from my Office & recorded therein in Book N but on Application I have allowed a Deed to issue to the sait Christiana Miller for the said Land which is bounded by the survey aforesaid as follows, Beginning at 2 Pines on a hillside on the East side of a Meadow Corner to Jacob Miller & extending S. 48° E. One hundred & ten Poles to 2 Spanish Oaks by a drain, Then N. 42° E. Seventy four Poles to 2 pines & a White Oak (Saplings) on a high hill in Adam Funk's Line, Thence with Funk's Lines N. 65° W. Sixty two Poles to a Chesnut Oak & a Pine, Then N. 25° E. crossing the said branch One hundred Poles to 3 White Oaks on a hill the said Funk's Corner, Then leaving the said Funk's Lines & extending N. 45° W. crossing the great Waggon Road Three hundred Poles to a Locust & 2 Black Oak Saplings on the brow of a small knoll, Then S. 45° W One hundred & fifty eight Poles to 3 Pines by a Valley, Then S. 47° E. Eighty six Poles to 2 Pines the said Jacob's Corner, Then with the said Jacob's Line S. 47° E. Two hundred Poles to the Beginning containig Three hundred and forty Acres. Together with all Rights, Members & Appurtenances thereunto belonging Royal Mines excepted and a full third part of all Lead Copper Tin Coals Iron Mine & Iron Ore that shall be found thereon -- To have and to hold the said 340 Acres of Land together with all Rights Profits & Benefits to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining Except before excepted, to her the said Christiana Miller for & during the Term of her natural Life & after her Decease to her Son Christian Miller the Heir at Law his Heirs & Assigns for ever, The said Christiana Miller & He the said Christian Miller his Heirs & Assigns therefore Yielding & paying to me, my Heirs or Assigns or to my Certain Attorney or Attornies Agent of Agents or to the Certain Attorney or Attornies of my Heirs or Assigns Proprietors of the said Northern Neck yearly & every Year on the Feast Day of St. Michael the Archangel the Fee Rent of One Shilling Sterling Money for every Fifty Acres of Land hereby granted & so proportionably for a greater of lesser Quantity, Provided that if the said Christiana Miller or the said Christian Miller his Heirs & Assigns shall not pay the said reserved annual Rent as aforesaid so that the same or any part thereof shall be behind & unpaid by the space of two whole Years after the same become due If legally demanded that then it shall & may be lawful for me my Heirs or Assigns Proprietors as aforesaid my or their Certain Attorney or Attornies Agents or Agents into the above granted Premises to reenter & hold the same so as if this Grant had never passed. Given at my office in Frederick County under my Hand & Seal Dated the Second Day of July 1777. |
