The Right Honourable Thomas Lord Fairfax, Baron of Cameron in that part of great Britain called Scotland proprietor of the Northern neck of Virginia

To all to whom this present Writing shall come sends Greeting.

Know Ye that for Good Causes for and in Consideration fo the Composition to me paid and for the Annual Rent hereafter reserved, I have given granted and Confirmed & by these Presents for me my heirs and Assigns, do give Grant and Confirm unto Benjm Blackburn of Frederick County a Certain Tract of Waste and ungranted Land in the said County where he now lives near Mulberry Run & bounded as by a suvery thereof made by Mr. John Baylis as followeth.

Beginning at two White Oaks & Red Oak in the Line of John & Margaret Blaire, upon or near the top of a Ridge, thence So. 52° Wt. Seventy four poles to a large White Oak & Red Oak Saplin (sic) upon the said Ridge, then No. 38° Wt. sixty four Poles to a red Oak on a Ridge, thence So. 52° W. forty eight poles to a Stake on a Ridge near two Red Oak Saplins, thence No. 38° Wt. two hundred poles to three pine Saplins on the side of the little No. Mountain thence No. 52° Et. one hundred & twenty two poles, to two Red Oaks on the west Side fo the said Mountain; thence So. 38° Et. twenty six poles to Blair's Corner two Red Oaks & Hickory. The course continues from thence along Blair's Line Two hundred & thirty four poles to the Beginning. Containing one hundred & eighty one Acres. Together with all Rights Members & Appurtenances thereunto belonging Royal Mines Excepted & a full third part of all Lead, Copper, Tin, Coals Iron Mines & Iron ore, that shall be found thereof.

To have & to hold the said one hundred & eighty one Acres of Land Together with all Rights profits and benefits to the same belonging or in any wise Appurtaining Except before Excepted to him the said Benjamin Blackburn his heirs & Assigns Therefore Yielding and paying to me my heirs or assigns or to my Certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents or to the Certain Attorney or Attorneys, Agent or Agents of my heirs or Assigns proprietor's of the said Northern Neck yearly & every year on the Feast Day of St. Michael the Arch Angel the fee rent of one Shilling sterling money for every fifty acres of Land hereby granted and So proportionably for a greater or lesser Quantity. Provided that if the said Benjamin Blackburn his heirs or Assigns shall not pay the before Reserved Annual Rent so that the sum or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of two whole Years after the same shall become due if lawfully demanded That then it shall & may be lawful for me my heirs or Assigns proprietors as aforesaid my or their certain Attorney or Attorneys Agent or Agents into the above granted premises to reenter and hold the same so as if this Grant had never passed.

Given at my office in Fairfax County within my said Proprietary under my hand & Seal. Dated the first day of September in the twenty seventh year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Three.
